LIFE IN TYANDAGA
What it's like to live in Tyandaga.
Tucked north of the 403 and west of Brant Street, Tyandaga is a quiet, green neighbourhood built around a golf course, with spacious homes on large lots and nature right out the back door. It grew up around Tyandaga Golf Course, which opened in 1963, and its name honours Thayendanegea, the Mohawk name of Joseph Brant. The streets are quiet and winding, and there's green space just about everywhere you look.
It feels tucked away, but the 403 and QEW are only minutes away and the 407 is close by too, which makes it a favourite for anyone who wants quiet without a long drive.
THE HOMES
Executive homes on large, mature lots.
Most homes in Tyandaga are executive detached homes built in the 1970s, in Georgian, Colonial, Tudor and Cape Cod styles, along with bungalows and split-levels on large, mature lots. Around the edges you'll find townhomes and bungalofts, which are popular with downsizers.
Detached homes have recently sold around $1.5 to $1.6 million. Prices change with the market, so reach out anytime for a current snapshot.
MY LOCAL FAVOURITES
Where you'll find me in Tyandaga.
Parks and walks: Kerncliff Park is one of the most beautiful hidden gems in Burlington. It's a former quarry with boardwalks, escarpment cliffs and views right out to the lake, and a Bruce Trail side trail runs through it. And of course, Tyandaga Golf Course is right in the neighbourhood for an easy round after work.
Sweets and treats: Cakes Sweets & Treats on Kerns Road is a must. Their cakes, pies, cheesecakes and cupcakes are the real deal, and it's my go-to whenever there's something to celebrate.
