LIFE IN ALDERSHOT
What it's like to live in Aldershot.
Tucked between the Royal Botanical Gardens and the QEW, with Plains Road running right through it, Aldershot is a neighbourhood with deep roots, wide-open green space and some of the best little local spots in the city. It was settled in the 1790s and was once one of the biggest fruit-growing areas in the country, which is why so many streets still have that relaxed, small-town feel. It's been part of Burlington since 1958, and today Plains Road is full of cafés, long-time family restaurants and new homes going up.
It's also one of the greenest corners of the city, with LaSalle Park on the harbour and the Royal Botanical Gardens right next door. For commuters, Aldershot GO has all-day trains plus VIA Rail, and the 403 and QEW are right there.
THE HOMES
Village charm, with room to grow.
Aldershot has a real mix. You'll find 1940s and 50s cottages, bungalows and Cape Cods on large and ravine lots, 2000s detached homes and towns, and a growing number of condos and live/work towns along Plains Road. Down by the harbour there are some beautiful waterfront estates too.
Many buyers love the older homes on bigger lots and the chance to renovate or build over time. Detached homes averaged around $1.47 million in 2025. Prices change with the market, so reach out anytime for a current snapshot.
MY LOCAL FAVOURITES
Where you'll find me in Aldershot.
Parks and walks: LaSalle Park and Marina is one of my favourite spots in all of Burlington, with trails, a splash pad and that historic 1917 pavilion right on the water. The Royal Botanical Gardens has kilometres of trails to explore, and Hidden Valley Park, Aldershot Park and Bayshore Park are lovely for everyday walks.
Coffee and treats: Plains Road has become a little coffee lover's dream. There's Peach Coffee Co., Unbound Coffee + Gelato, Caked Coffee for vegan bakes and Turtledoves Bakery for anyone who's gluten-free.
Restaurants: West Plains Bistro is lovely for a night out and District Kitchen + Bar is great for drinks and dinner with friends. Then there are the classics that have been part of Aldershot for years: Easterbrook's for their famous foot-long hot dogs, Russell Williams Family Restaurant for breakfast and Lord Nelson Steak House for a special dinner.
